The best part of January...one is my birthday and the another is Pongal!! On the pongal eve, many indians will be busy cleaning and preparing their things to celebrate pongal....Here at my place I rarely get to see anyone celebrating bhogi but nearly every indian home will have their sugarcane tied at their house entrance with a pretty kolam.
Yesterday, as I was on leave from work........my boys seeing me at home wanted to skip their kinde for the day but somehow I manged to get them to go. I made Paal Pongal, Sakarai Pongal, Chick Pea Sundal and Medu Vadai for the prayers and for lunch I made a simple Vegetable Sambar, Cabbage Carrot Stir Fry and Vegetarian Chicken Paratal. Hubby stayed till lunch and off to work later. I spent the rest of day with my two little heroes.
I can't remember when was the last I actually got to taste the sweet juice from the bite on the sugarcane itself....now that I have two sugarcane at home...my dream is about to come true....:-)
Ok friends, here are the clicks of some of the dishes which I made yesterday........By the way how did your celebration went on my dear hindu friends?? hope you too had a good Pongal celebration with your loved ones!!
